Since I grew up near the lush green and gold mountains of West Virginia, I feel that this has inspired me to paint landscapes. The rich and warm colors of all the seasons there are tucked away in my memories forever. I especially like to paint barns and farms, even though I didn’t grow up on a farm. We had a small home in the North Georgia mountains for years where I saw old barns being torn down so I feel that they have to be preserved on canvas so that they are not lost forever.

Suzanne Engel was born in Ashland, KY and grew up in Huntington, WV. She studied fine art at Indiana University. Instruction by Eula Ginsberg at the High Museum of Art, Scarlette Rickenbacker, Mark Chatov in figurative art and Beverly Flanders and Debra Nadelhoffer for landscapes. She paints in oil and is shown in Atlanta in various locations.

Ms. Engel likes to paint landscapes and her inspirations for these paintings are from her travels around the world. They have formed her preference for wanting to bring these beautiful locations to the canvas.

Suzanne maintains a studio in Atlanta where she is a long time resident. She is a member of the Dunwoody Fine Art Association, Atlanta Arts Center, and Art Guild of Sandy Springs which is a group she originated for Sandy Springs artists that critique each others works. She has had several one woman shows and her work may be found in many private collections.
