Joyce left Michigan in 1975 to begin life in Atlanta; where she’s had varied careers in teaching, advertising sales, and business ownership. All the while she furthered her desire for the serious study of fine art though art classes. Currently in pursuit of her dream, she divides her time between her business and her art.
“Intense” is the way her husband, Billy sometimes describes her as she juggles between her hair salon business and her artwork. Creative, playful, and fun are words used to describe Joyce by most who know her.
When asked what drives her, Joyce replies “Painting is EXCITING because there are always challenges in achieving what I am striving for. The FUN is in trying to figure out the best ways to accomplish it. The SATISFACTION is in feeling good about the results.”
Joyce’s natural painting style is strong and energetic. Subjects range from pet and people portraits to still-life and landscapes. Her ultimate goal is to create a body of work that will give others great pleasure.
