Joyce’s love for art began early as she and her twin sister watched their mother, “Edna-Mom,” paint, and who then would allow the twins access to her valued oil paints and brushes. Although art was always a part of Joyce’s life, developing skills on a serious level came much later, when she realized her unfulfilled potential.
For the past 8 years, Joyce has continued to take classes and workshops with many well-regarded regional and national artists: Jim Schell, Marc Chatov, Charles Walls, Albert Handell, Susan Sarback, Margaret Dyer Hinton, Sally Strand, and others. “I will always be learning and experimenting — striving to reach a higher level of artistic competence.” Her focus is mainly portraiture, figurative, and still life.
